About your Instructor
Julia Tiffin landed on the international stage with her photographic conceptual works in her early 20’s as well as heading a University department in Fine Art Photography. Her work has been hailed as being pivotal in transforming the landscape of South African photography and she was featured in the Anthology of African Photographers as one of the cutting edge conceptual photographers. She exhibited on the global stage at international museums and galleries. She entered photography as a sculptor with a passion also for capturing space in drawings. Her aesthetic was that of a plastic artist (someone who creates art using physical materia) engaging in the magical realm of the darkroom and seeing the photograph merely as a ‘discoloured piece of paper’ onto which you can inscribe your own expressed reality. Parallel to her passions in the world of Art, she is an International Speciality Instructor in metaphysics under the Modern Mystery School – understanding the energy behind the physical and visible world. Where the camera used science to capture the physical world, it has long been known that the camera also captures way more than that! Here you have an instructor who can help you find your visual language to match your inner (unseen) energy and express this in images using the photographic medium (your outer world).

The course
The process of producing images is created primarily through how you see the world – a reflection of your inner world. Two people can take a photo of the same thing but the feeling, energy and mood will be significantly different. In this course, you will understand that YOU are the key ingredient that shapes any image, and in this course we will focus on that so that you understand that technique is truly secondary in making images. Understanding the image taking dance & a connection to yourself is the magical ingredient to making superb images. There will be an opportunity to develop your technical skills but you will come to understand the starting blocks of the image making process to make profound images.

Sign up for the foundational training & 1 project! You will learn the foundational concepts that you need to connect with yourself as an image maker and how to put this into action through one practical project. There will deep personal development & connection exercises to find your inner visual voice and a deeper part of you & various resources (conceptual, personal & technical) for you to work with (in your own time) once the project has started. Once you have gotten your first course, and your first taste (!), you will have the opportunity to sign-up for the 4 projects after that (with a bonus 5th project). [OR you can go ahead and sign up for the whole course straightaway!]
Week 1: There will be a 2.5 hours ONLINE LIVE class presenting concepts, project to explore, exercises for exploration.
Week 2: Check-in ONLINE LIVE about project & further training. Optional, highly recommended. 2 hours
Week 2: Private consultation ONLINE LIVE about your project 1 hour
Week 3: ONLINE LIVE Presentation of you project 2 hours
